Guest Blog: On Writer's Block

Bella is back from the trenches of {If This Is} Motherhood today. Her prompt was "liberty" and here is her response:

If This Is Motherhood....

On Writer's Block...

If you’ve ever had writer’s block then you understand just how frustrating it is.  I’ve been suffering with it big time! So when The Drama Mama asked me to guest post, I was thrilled!  I thought to myself “What a great way to get my MoJo back!”  Not.  I sat down, grabbed a cup of coffee and nothing came.

As I write this, I am 3 days late on the deadline and I’m honestly not even sure she will be able to publish this.  But I’m sure as hell going to try.

It isn’t as if I have nothing to write about.  Oh, the boys give me plenty.  There was a time not so long ago when my blog was becoming quite popular before I dropped of the face of the earth and used the cowardly excuse of being overwhelmed at home when well-meaning bloggers sent emails asking about my sudden absence.

Life with boys is never boring.  The Gremlin is an evil genius.  But his genius will likely go unnoticed in the rock star world he is determined to be a part of.  The Professor is a budding paleontologist with a fall back career of a lawyer.  They give me plenty of writing inspiration and they are the star of both my blog and my heart.  I hope that if you visit me, you’ll see just how much my personal sun rises and sets with the two people who mostly drive me nuts, but sometimes surprise even me with their wit, charm and intelligence.

I wish I could guest post something spectacular that would be shared and tweeted and liked a million times.  I wish I’d sign on tomorrow and find a screaming plethora of fans on my blog.  But the truth is, this post is me desperately trying to overcome writer’s block by doing what everyone keeps telling me to do. Writing.

I’m making a come back.  No seriously, I am.  I am going to blog more often even if I feel like there is nothing to say because blogging makes me feel good.  I love to write.  And despite the fact that I am severely handicapped with writer’s block right now, and seriously hating summer vacation because it’s just too long and we’re all bored out of our skulls at this point, I love to write and my blog matters to me.

I haven’t posted in a while, but The Drama Mama has a few of my favorites.  I hope you’ll enjoy my past writes and visit me again for more. I make a public promise here to blog more often even if I’m still struggling with this block! You all can help me out by commenting, because I do love comments!

Thanks for featuring me DM! I’m sorry I couldn’t come up with something brilliant.  I’m sure I will in the future, but I’m not at liberty to discuss that right now.

You know, she did get the "liberty" in there at the end. Haha. I hope you enjoyed, and leave her lots of comment love so she is inspired.

I'm at the beach, hope you are having a great week.

'Horrible Bosses' Review

The best thing that came out of this film was that I've been proven right. After years of defenders, Jennifer Aniston has nothing to fall back on. Jennifer Aniston is not the nice girl next door that everyone thinks her to be. Jennifer Aniston is a tramp. There. I've stated it once and for all. No one believed me, but now I have proof.

She is just one of the despicable bosses in the film appropriately titled, Horrible Bosses. Not the most original title and Jason Bateman is in it so you'd think it was a no go, but I spent a good majority of this film cracking up.

The three friends weren't as outrageous as the trio in The Hangover, but they were realistic enough to be believable. Colin Farrell stole the show as a balding crackhead with less morals than the cast of Jersey Shore combined. The role was just so out of his hot, Irish element that it really proved his acting ability...unless he's just really gone downhill this year.

Kevin Spacey played one of the meanest men I've ever seen. He was dangerous, rude and brutally cruel to his employees. And then there was Aniston. She "played" her role quite well. She was highly inappropriate and unnecessarily sexual...like I always knew she was. So for those of you out there who feel the need to protect the Friends' star's reputation, just watch this film.

BSOW: No Time Machine Necessary

The Best Scoop of the Week is so delicious, I had to save her for today. This lady knows ALL about the poop, seriously. She has swallowed her dignity only to have it come out the other end, literally. Ever experienced the grossness that is called the Men's Room? Yep, she knows all about that too. She struggles with the same "I am not my mother" issues that we all do, especially when its a battle between her mom superpowers and normal mom abilities.

She is very real, very down to earth, with a humorous and often sarcastic look at life. This week's BSOW is none other than Bella of If This Is Motherhood...

If This Is Motherhood....

I asked her where she would go if she could jump in a time machine....

I would skip the time machine experience.  I think that every single moment in my life has made me who I am and contributed to where I am. And every single event that might happen in the future is a part of me as well.  So if I were able too, I might go back in time and enjoy certain moments again (such as perhaps the days when my children were too young to walk and talk and wreak havoc) or appreciate them more, but I wouldn't change a thing about what has happened in the past or might happen in the future.

Bella will be back tomorrow talking about that dreaded disease we all get from time to time called "Writer's Block." You don't want to miss it.

Trailer for New 'Tron: Uprising' TV Show

In some circumstances I value my friendships more than stating my opinion. There was a reason why I never posted a Tron review and it has something to do with the fact that one of my closest friends was a big fan of the movie while I had a slightly different view.

All of that aside, Disney is coming out with a new animated series called Tron:Uprising, which is based off this year's film. The promo (below) was shown at this year's Comic-Con and looks fairly interesting. It seems to capture the special effects that I enjoyed from the film and has that same catchy soundtrack from Daft Punk.

Voicing some of the characters will be Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens and Emmanuelle Chriqui. From what I've read the show will take place entirely inside The Grid and won't feature the character of Sam who was the focus of the film. It instead follows Beck (Wood) would is trained by Tron to fight evil forces and eventually become the next Tron.

What do you think of this new show? Interested?

The Five Best Things About 'Twilight'

As those of you who read this blog know, I'm not the biggest fan of Twilight. I think most of my dislike stems from the fact that people try and compare the series to Harry Potter. Read the first chapter of the first book and anyone with a brain could tell you that such statements are more than just a little false. A wise person once tweeted something along the lines of "Harry Potter is about the fight of good versus evil and Twilight is about teenage hormones and not wearing a shirt."

And while I agree with that statement as well as many other negative statements made about Twilight, I still plan on seeing what will sadly end up being November's biggest hit, Breaking Dawn Part 1. There's just something about these films that entices me to view each one at least once. While trying to figure out what causes me to do such things I have come up with a list of the five best things about Twilight.

1) Parodies
If you haven't seen this video put together by two sisters that created the company Hillywood Productions, then you haven't truly experienced life before this day. I was amazed at not only the complexity of costumes and editing, but also the quality of the actors and their ability to duplicate some of the most hilarious Twilight moments. The video is about 13 minutes long, but well worth your time.

2) Jasper
This is definitely the best character in the whole series. He is first described as "the blond one who always looks like he's in pain." And he does look like he's just been punched in the gut every time I see him. I also like how in the second film he had a freak out because Bella got a paper cut, and yet they claim he is ok to go to high school? If every time I got a paper cut in math class some strange, pale kid leapt over a desk to suck it dry for me, I might find that a little disturbing...though some of the kids that went to my high school weren't any less weird.

3) Constipated Faces
Almost every single character in these movies must have to drop a deuce every time they're on screen. I'm not sure what it is about being a vampire that makes you have to go to the bathroom all the time. Maybe it's eating all that human flesh. But mostly the vampires seem to just drink a lot of blood...so wouldn't they just have to pull a number one? I guess the faces they're making are supposedly pained looks because their lives of being attractive, being able to run a one minute mile and having nice cars are simply too challenging.

4) No, no, no, nooooo
Ok probably my favorite scene from any of the Twilight films occurred at the end of the first one. After Bella gets attacked by this crazed vamp, Edward tells her he's leaving town to protect her from further harm. Young Bella does not like this response and proceeds to freak out, potentially having a mini-seizure. The scene I'm talking about occurs between 5.20 and 6.30 of this video.

5) Taylor Lautner's lack of clothing
This one is not on here because I particularly care for his abs. I just find it hilarious that every time he walks outside he feels the need to strip. I'm sure Twilight fans will quickly remind me that he takes off his shirt so he doesn't rip it when he morphs into a wolf, but what about his pants? If he was really trying to preserve his clothing, he would strip inside like a decent member of society and then jump out of the house while he's transforming so no one has to look at his junk. It's pretty clear that he remains topless so Bella will find his rippling muscles appealing, but clearly she prefers scrawny, moody men who lack a tan so you're out of your league here Jacob.

So there you have it. My top five favorite things about Twilight. What are yours? And please don't respond telling me that the story is what keeps you coming back for more.
