Curvy Lady has returned today to guest blog. Here's what she had to say on her prompt "season" and "joy".

Season and Joy

Nirvana's Season in the Sun lyrics keep popping into my head when I read these words, except with a few minor lyrical alterations. "We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun... But the swimsuits and the short shorts like the seasons have all gone". I can't help but feel a tiny bit of joy trading in the hot sunny days for the unpredictable rainy season although I can't say a complete goodbye to the short shorts since I live in the Caribbean and it summer practically all year round.

I've chosen to be content today (and it's not just because I'm off from work). I feel like I'm always in pursuit of something. Whether it's a greater career, finding that box of soft chocolate chip cookies I can't remember the name of, tightening my gluteus maximus or whatever it is I think I need in or out of my life. It's great to have goals and aspirations but sometimes you just have to stop for a minute, take a step back, try to forget about that upcoming poolside party (because you get queasy just thinking about swimsuits and short shorts) and just be content. After all, isn't contentment what most of us consider the ultimate goal?

So today, I'm going to chill at home with my family, watch a good movie and have some not-really-good-for-you food. What will you be doing?

If I were a crayon, what color would I be, and why?

Ever since I read that question, two colors have be swirling about in my mind... purple and cerulean blue. But since I have to choose, I would rather be the purple crayon in the box of Jumbo Crayola Crayons. I could say I chose purple because I read somewhere that it represents royalty, nobility and other such awesomeness, but that had nothing to do with my decision. I chose purple because it was always the first to get used up in my crayon box when I was little. Even when the coloring book said to color a certain part of the horse brown, the whole thing would wind up being purple because it just felt right. Plus.. I look pretty cute in purple.
