Guest Blog: All She Wants to Do Is Dance

Please welcome the very funny Sum Sum from Disco Lemonade back today with her take on "dance".

BWS tips button

"Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts, because it is not mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself."  ~H.E.

The sun goes down and a nervous anticipation of what the evening shall bring takes hold of her.  She is uncertain of the exact destination but she knows the surroundings will be dark and dangerous.  The voyage to nowhere begins with illicit, carefree abandon and is shared with friends and freaks alike.  Her heart pounds from her chest as beats are heard in the distance, at that moment she feels the first wave of happiness.  She breaks through the crowd and enters a place that in the daylight would give no evidence that every night beauty blossoms from this exact location.  She can’t restrain her smile.  What she is believed to be has been left at the doorstep and tonight she will lose herself in the lights, fog and turntables.  Surrounded by strangers; the smell is a mixture of floral perfumes, eucalyptus, musk and sweat and the dance created is one of friendship on a level not experienced in the waking light.  The beats drive her senses and move her body as if she is a marionette reenacting life’s greatest tragedy, the loss of sensation.  Her entire night is a choreographed death of what she knows and believes in the sun.  As day breaks, the dance of freedom concludes and reality returns with a sigh.  Once again she finds herself imprisoned by perception, until she can dance again.

Best Scoop of the Week: Sum Sum Kinda Funny

Man I missed the ice cream last week! Didn't you? Well, its back this week with a lovely new flavor. It's yummy. It's sweet. It's funny. It's Disco Lemonade!!!

This blog keeps a super funny (and sometimes crude) sense of humor about everything she does. From her worst day ever to purging her soul to being a good Samaritan, there's a little something for everyone to enjoy on her blog. She keeps the laughter coming with her indefinite headache, her views on running, and giraffes. This is one blog you don't want to miss.

I asked Sum Sum: "If you could be any character from any movie, which character would you be and why?"

I love movies!  Love is an understatement, I LIVE for movies (and books, but this question is about movies so I better take my Adderall and start over).  One of my favorite movies of all time is The Neverending Story.  I would rent this movie every Friday from Michigan Video (it was the movie rental joint in Michigan; we are super creative in the north).  I would cry at the end as the song played every single time, "There upon the rainbow is the answer to a never-ending stoooooory aah, aah, aah".  Needless to say my parents hated the movie and those Friday nights were probably what drove my mom to be a pot head, well that and the enormous amounts of pot available around our neighborhood.  I digress...

My original thought was to choose a character from that exact movie that brought me so many wonderful nights alone, in front of the $800.00 VHS player dreaming of flying dogs and rock people while the other normal kids played hide-n-
go seek around the block.  Then I just became depressed remembering my childhood and all those awkward nights alone, in front of the $800.00 VHS player dreaming of flying dogs and rock people while the other normal kids played hide-n-go seek around the block.  I think most of my awkwardness was the constant contact buzz...

So, I went with a character created by one of my favorite directors, Quentin Tarantino and that is The Bride aka Beatrix Kiddo aka Black Mamba from Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2.  My reason, quite simply, is I want to be that bad ass.  This chick gets the crap beat out of her, while pregnant, and the baby daddy who was also her assassin mentor shoots her in the face.  She awakes from her 4 year coma, surviving all of this, and swears revenge on any and all of those that have wronged her as well as sets out to find the child stolen from her womb.  If you've never seen the movie but love daytime drama, I'm sure All My Children had a similar story line at one point or another.  Before I go any further, let's have a moment of silence for All My Children.......
.
Now I am not in the habit of wanting to get shot in the face or go on a murderous rampage in the name of revenge.  In fact, I am quite the opposite and consider myself a Chee-tos bag of good times that attempts to make everyone around me smile and laugh and just enjoy life a little more today than yesterday.  However, there is something quite enticing about being able to execute a perfect form drop kick to someone who damn well deserves it.  So, today, I'm not going to take any shit and if you try to polish a turd and hand it off to me as a diamond I very well might throw a Chinese star of death at your forehead.

No worries, I'm printing this out and taking it to therapy...right about now I'm sure Drama Mama is rethinking her choice for featured blogger.

So, there you have it. Isn't she hilarious? There's more of her delicious funny coming your way on Monday when she takes on "Dance" for a prompt.

Have a great weekend!!
