Welcome to Way Back Wednesday with The Adventures of Goober Grape & Monkey Man, The Life of a Sippy Cup Mom!, The Scoop on Poop! and introducing our newest hostess The Nerdy Katie!
Victoria had to step out of doing WBW to make her blog a little more family centered, and we are certainly going to miss her. She's still going to pop in once in a while to add to our WBW links. We know we had to find someone special to fill Victoria's shoes, and Katie was the first person who came to mind! Please welcome her with loving, open arms.
Last week's sports memories were great, There are lots of athletic bloggers out there! And the Little Blond Girl's glasses really completed her uniforms (Jess, we love you!).
Next week's topic is....first dates! Start thinking about those memories. It can be either the very first date you ever went on or your first date with your spouse!
This week's WBW is about first jobs. I remember my first job fondly. I made a whole $2.12 an hour. I was RICH!! Woot Woot Woot!! I was also 14. I had a job many of my friends envied because it also got me discounts. And discounts when you are 14 are where its at, especially when it came to hair.
Why was my first job so special? I was a shampoo girl! I worked for the Hair Cuttery. I even made tips! I got to scrub scrub scrub all day long, and get my hair cut for practically free!
I remember through the misty fog of old age that surrounds my teenage memories....
---the little old lady that came in once a week just for the lone purpose of having her hair washed. She was the sweetest little thing. Her white hair was as soft as I always imagined a cloud would be.
---learning that the less you wash your hair, the healthier it is. That has always stuck with me. (Boy am I glad that you can't see me through the monitor. I'm a hot mess more often then not in the mornings or late nights when I'm blogging. Hahaha).
---sitting at the reception desk and making appointments and counting the till.
---being taken under a hairdresser's wing. I don't remember her name anymore, but I do remember her. If school hadn't gotten in the way, I think I probably would have learned so skillz through her.
This was a fantastic starter job for me. It paved the way for McDonalds, cashiering, waitressing, etc for the rest of my life. Plus? It gave me a feeling of accomplishment having my own money to get the things I wanted.
Make sure you link up below so I can come check your post out!! Happy Hump Day!!!
