Guest Blog: Simon Says

Kelley's Family Jewels is back after her Friday feature to guest post today. It's all yours, Kelley!!

BWS tips button

Do you watch American Idol?  I did watch the first couple seasons; but really lost interest after that. What I did love, were the bloopers; the bad singers.
What is it about people that draw them to making a fool of them elves on National TV?

I wonder how bad singers get to the public? I mean most people don’t tend to willfully make fools of themselves on National TV. For each of those bad singers, Simon told them in no uncertain terms how horrible they were and they were genuinely stupefied.
I kept waiting for one of them to say that “yah, I know I stink; but I’m on Idol baby!”
Shoot up the rock and roll sign and say “Elvis has left the building.”

I used to sing in the church choir when I was little, I thought I rocked.  Oh, yes; I
was a superstar at Christmas.  My mom said I was great.  The choir instructor said I was great. That must make it true.

So,   the million dollar question is how did I not end up being one of those stupefied singers bum rushed from AI?

Now that I look back on it, while telling me I was great, my mom also encouraged me to “always try new things.”  Since I know I can’t carry a tune in a bucket (with two hands and six friends).  I am sure I was a super baddie back then and everyone was just being polite.  (It was church for goodness sake; who going to tell a little kid in a cute white robe with gold stitching, she stinks?)
No one, that’s who.

Never did I put the two and two together.  I kept singing in the choir, thinking I was a rock star and tried new things. Eventually, I realized singing was not my strong point, the choir was very ‘sad’ to see me go and I left under the illusion of a retiring Diva. I’m thinking that was a much better way to go than hearing it from Simon.

Last Week's Fact or Fiction
 1. My favorite performer of all time is Carrie Underwood.
True. She absolutely is my favorite performer of all time, and that's saying a lot since I love a variety of music. I hope she continues with the clean image.

2. My favorite movie of all time is Mary Poppins.
False. Daisygirl, Paul & Kerry, and Missy were right. Mary Poppins is NOT my favorite movie of all time. It is definitely on my Top 10 List and it is my favorite all time Disney movie, however, The Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood is by far my favorite movie of all time. If you haven't seen it, you really must.

3. When I was a kid I wanted to be Tinkerbell.
True.  I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us Neverland kid. I did, in fact, long to be Tinkerbell, living in Neverland when I was a kid. I wanted to be Wendy too, and Peter Pan or even one of the Lost Boys (take your pick). But, at the end of the day, I was waiting for my fairy wings to appear, and hoping for my fairy dust to work. Yeah, I am was a dork. Haha.

2 Truths & a Lie
  1. The only show I will actually get off the computer to watch is American Idol.
  2. My dream home is a castle in Ireland.
  3. My dream car is a Vorsteiner BR9 Bentley Continental GT.
Can you tell the truths from the lie?
Come back next week to find out if you are right or wrong! Don't forget to link up your own Fact or Fiction post!! Happy Thursday!!

The Real Poop-Drama's Thursday Confessional

I skipped this one last week (shame on me!), but I really need to confess my sins this week. You can take a number or butt to the front of the line (and confess it later), but I'm going first.

The Confessional is now open.

1. I feel like I am busy all day long, but when I look back at the end of the day, I couldn't tell you what it was that I was so busy with.
2. I feel like a first time parent with this puppy business. They really should come with manuals.
3. I think Tim Urban is the next to go on American Idol. Speaking of, I still think almost all of them remind me of someone already famous. I still really like Big Mike, but there are others showing more skills-like Crystal Bowersox (reminds me of Jewel), Siobhan (reminds me of Martina McBride), and Aaron Kelly. Even with a case of tonsillitis that boy sounded fantastic. My least favorite is Katie Stevens.
4. Despite the controversy, I still think it's funny. That's all I'm saying. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
5. I am so glad the science fair is over. Life can go back to normal now.

That's it for me this week. Who's next? (p.s. your secrets are safe with me. who am I gonna tell?)

Oh yeah, while I've got your attention, hop on down to Coming Soon and ask me anything. If you are in a creative mood, hop on down to Never Ending Story Saturday and add the next segment of the story. Poor puppy's never going to have that party!
