Last Week's Fact or Fiction
1. I wanted to be a novelist when I grew up.
False. I loved writing short stories and poems, and there were the extra long short stories but I never really wanted to be a novelist when I grew up.

2. I wanted to be a journalist when I grew up.
True. I did want to be a journalist. I wanted to be in the middle of it all, writing and reporting on what was happening. The more dangerous it was, the more exciting I thought it would be. Becoming hearing impaired as a teenager washed that dream away. (You can't interview if you can't hear what people are saying to you, eh?)

3. I wanted to be a sing/songwriter/actress when I grew up.
True. Is there any kid out there that didn't dream of being a multi-talented actress? I had a decent singing voice and songwriting skills later on, too. My mom refused to move to California though, so I was stuck in Va. Haha.

2 Truths & a Lie
1. My first story ever written was about a peanut.
2. I was in 4th grade when I wrote my story.
3. I have never won a writing contest.

Can you tell the truth from the lie?
You know you want to play too, so post it, link it, and hop around.
We will have a blast. What are you waiting for?

Please welcome back yesterday's Best Scoop of the Week, Lourie from CA Girl!!

Individuality and Laughter

When Stephanie asked me to use these words for my post, I thought:  "Hmmmm okay...."  It seemed so hard at first.  But then I realized it is everything I hope to be.  And everything I hope to pass to my children.

When I was a kid, of course I wanted to be popular as the saying goes.  I wasn't.  I was not without friends.  I had a lot of friends.  And they got me.  I could be myself with them.  I have a rather unique sense of humor.  I enjoy Monty Python, SNL, and the like.  The more off beat the humor the better.  I laugh at shows that shouldn't be funny.  Example:  If I am watching 24 (no longer on air! :( ) I laugh my butt off when the bad guys actually think that they are going to best Jack Bauer!  It's like a total joke and only a matter of time before he takes them out.  If you are a fan of the show, you totally get this.  If you aren't, well you just have to have to take my word for it that when the bad guys think they are more ruthless than him, well I can't help it.  I laugh at their stupidity!

I march to the beat of my own drum.  This makes me the individual I am.  And I hope it teaches my kids to be the individuals they can be.  I was never one to follow the crowd.  I went around school with a sock tied in my hair.  I wore two different colored socks on purpose.  I liked The Beatles (still do) and The Monkees (still do).  I was in drama.  Drama for me was the best place possible to be.  I fit right in with those people.  It was my little corner of the world where I felt I belonged.

As an adult, I have learned I don't need to belong so much as I need to surround myself with people who share the same feelings, experiences and views as I do.  I really am enjoying digging my heels into the blogging world.  There are so many amazing women out there who are artists, writers, photographers, mothers, friends, daughters,  and sisters.

Each of my children are their own little person.  They bring laughter to me everyday...and frustration.  But I do cherish the laughter.  And the best part of the joy and fun they bring is when I can share it in the blogging world.

Thank you Stephanie for featuring me!  I think you are DYN-O-MITE!

Have a great weekend everyone!! See you Monday. I'm really hoping my muse returns (or this week long headache goes away).

BSOW: A Blogger of Many Colors

My muse is on vacation. I swear it. I have no idea where she went, but I hope she is enjoying herself wherever she is. Muse or no muse I still have ice cream!! And today I am sharing it with a multi-tasking momma. She has 3 blogs, all of which she updates on regular basis (can you say superwoman?). She shares her definition of beautiful on one blog, a nostalgic reunion on another, and she dreams of the simple life, will cause you to catch baby fever, and even does all her own stunts.

Who is this Superwoman? That's easy!! I am so pleased to introduce you to my friend and Thursday co-host, Lourie from CA Girl!!!

I asked her "What is your cream filling? Why?"

Hahahaha!  I really had to think about your question.  I have to say I would be dark chocolate.  It is very sweet but it is just a tad bitter...or "dark."  I have a dark side.  I even took one of those silly personality Facebook quizzes about which Star Wars character I am.  The answer:  Anakin Skywalker.  I am basically a good person, but I have a dark side. Hahaha.

Don't you just love it when they are short and sweet and to the point? I can guarantee that you will always find that over at her place. She is a great blogger, with a house full of crazy kids. Make sure you check back tomorrow for her fabulous guest post.

Last Week's Fact or Fiction
 1. I am a grandmother by marriage.
True. GC's relationship with the mother of his 2 sons involved his helping to rear her 2 daughters, who were 4 and 18 months when they hooked up. The oldest has 2 children, 4 and 1, and a 3rd on the way. Thus, I am a "step" grandmother by marriage.
2. I waited 33 years to ride Da Vinci's Cradle and was vastly disappointed.
False. While I did wait 33 years to ride it, I enjoyed it tremendously. Remember being in the backseat of your dad's car as he went sailing over a bump or something over the road, and your stomach leaps to your throat (or drops out of your body, whichever you prefer)? That's exactly what this ride does. It's a flat ride that rocks like a cradle and does a complete 360 then reverses direction and does it again.

3. I once shaved the bottom half of my hair so short it looked like a boy's hairstyle.
True. I did this at the ripe old age of 25 and enjoyed it. It's so hot this summer, I've been thinking about doing it again. Plus? My hair grew in curly, just how I always wanted.

2 Truths & a Lie
In honor of CA Girl's blog party this week, we are doing a PARTY theme.
blogparty

  • 1. I got a DUI for my 29th birthday.
  • 2. I once got so drunk at a party that I locked myself in the bathroom stall and passed out.
  • 3. Joe Nichols' "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" was written in my honor. I can drink anything I want EXCEPT tequila.
Can you tell the truths from the lie?
Take your guess and come back next week to find out.
Don't forget to link up your fact or fiction post so we can come guess yours!

Last Week's Fact or Fiction:
1. I have designed 4 blog layouts, and 5 unique blog headers that  are being used on blogs elsewhere today.
True: I have a little design blog named Genie Girl Graphics where you can check out the blog layouts I have done and see a couple that are available. I do invitations, buttons, and more as well.

2. I have a side job as a freelance editor for photography.
False: I'm surprised that only one or two people actually got this one.

3. I have only been to 2 concerts in all my 39 years.
True: I saw Heart in concert when I was 19 and the Black Eyed Peas this year. I won tickets to see Queensryche but was unable to get off work to go (which is where I won the tickets, go figure!) so I gave the tickets to a couple of friends, who neglected to even bring me back a souvenir! I also missed an opportunity to see Carrie Underwood by waiting too long to buy the tickets. Boo!!
