Guest Blog: Devotion

Please welcome back the very funny Jennee of Cheap Therapy!

Devotion.

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the word devotion is causing a commotion.  It's the next line in La Vie Boheme from RENT.

I discovered RENT when I was in high school.  I was a drama junkie and dreamed of one day being an actress on Broadway.  Except I was shy and didn't even get the courage to audition for my first school play until my junior year.  I didn't get a speaking part and I never pursued Broadway after that.

I guess I wasn't really devoted to that dream.  Instead, I discovered other dreams that I have spent a little more time towards reaching these goals in my life.  Devotion isn't just about creating commotion or even just acting on something, to me, devotion is diving in and giving that small something more meaning than anything.  It's something that takes commitment and where dreams don't dissolve because of a few air bubbles.

I actually learned that from RENT, along with other life lessons.  I kid you know, RENT saved me from high school.  Even now, I remember lines like "give into love or live in fear," or "there is no future, there is no past, let's live this moment as it lasts."  RENT is about being devoted to living life and we all could use this reminder and encouragement.

PS. I want to take a moment to also direct your attention over to a very dear blogging friend's blog today. Her town was decimated by a tornado the other day, a town already hurting badly from the economy. Won't you give a sweet blogger a few moments to read her story? It could change the lives of so many. Read Kelly from The Miller Mix story. See how you can help.

BSOW: Kevin James Therapy

These have been a grueling few weeks. I'm so exhausted. Emotionally, physically, mentally exhausted. I think I could probably use some therapy. Seriously.

I searched high. I searched low. I searched locally. I searched internationally. I even searched globally. Then, I turned to the internet. Therapy is not cheap.

Or so I thought. Just as I was preparing myself to start sacrificing limbs, I found Jennee. One session with her, and I already feel so much better. Seriously.

She helped me face up to and finally admit to my Larry David moment. She made me feel better about my heritage, even though I am a European mutt. She also knows that the best therapy is eyecandy.

In fact, she did such a great job that she even convinced me to share the ice cream with her. So, without further ado, I give you this week's Best Scoop of the Week: Cheap Therapy!

I asked Jennee: "What is the best comedy line you have ever heard and why is it so funny?"

Jennee says:
Best line...

Kevin James is hilarious.  I often quote him on this little segment.  He jokes that fat people always sweat.  One day, he was drenched in sweat.  His friends asked him if he'd just done jumping jacks in the attic and his response was classic.
I peeled an orange....an hour ago.

It just makes me giggle.
Every time.
Maybe it's because I'm chubby.  Maybe it's because I break a sweat easily.  Or maybe Kevin James's delivery is just perfect.

Thanks for putting me on your sidebar and featuring me!

Come back on Monday for her guest post. Have a great weekend!!!!
