BSOW: When Nature Calls

It's Friday!! Woot Woot Woot!! I'm always excited for Friday, even though my days don't change much over the weekends. Maybe I'm always so excited about Fridays because I get to introduce you to some really awesome bloggers? Yeah, that must be it, and this week's Best Scoop of the Week is no exception.

She's learned how to "Go big or go home". She gives you fantastic advice on raising happy teenage girls.
She know how to make the most out of a day. She knows how far it is to Heaven and she shows you the way. (this is a must read. It is filled with gorgeous pictures and a great philosophy). She's got an interesting view on family. She's even had an attitude changing moment. Her car dancing abilities are what caused me to get a deep blog crush on her. She's just awesome.

I'm incredibly pleased to introduce you to Angelia of Living, Loving, Laughing.

**************************************
If you could CTRL ALT Delete one moment from your life and start over, what would it be?

I have asked myself this very question, many times. What would I change if I could? What is my redo moment? My world is a ball of clay that I can reform by just a crumpling it up and starting over.

I could buy that winning lotto ticket, instead of the losing one.

I could become that Eastern Airlines flight attendant, instead of not being employed when their strike ended in 1989.

I would have picked the other guy at the bar, and gone flying in a helicopter, instead of selecting to hang with the man who became my second (horribly abusive) ex-husband.

Or that moment of free-fall, when I didn't see the sidewalk end, but stepped off into air. That is, until I feel straight forward, and broke my wrist in not one, but two places. I had to wear a cast for seven weeks, while working in a job that requires typing all day.

The things I could to with a ctrl+alt+delete life moment.

But no, changing something major would make me a different person. I'd have a different life. I'd be in a different town, home, or relationship. All the things I would have missed that have made me - me.

No, I know what moment I would change. It's not any of those. It was a moment of desperate need. I had my iPhone in my pocket, earphone mic plugged in. My mom was on the line and I was talking hands free through the mic. One of our weekly (or every few days chat), and it wasn't quite over. But, I had to go. You know? Number one. And I could not hold it any more, but mom was going on and on and on.

I'm doing the tee tee dance outside the bathroom door.

Finally, I think to myself - just go - she doesn't care. She is my mom for goodness sakes. And I did. Oh I did. And it was SUCH a relief. Ahhhh.....

I was in so much bliss. I wasn't being very observant, so when I turned around to flush the toilet - it was THAT moment. My ctrl+alt+delete moment. My iPhone slide out of my pocket and plopped right into the toilet. Not only just the toilet, but the toilet that was full of wee.

What seemed like slo-mo, I snatch my precious iPhone out of the bowl by the earphone mic cords. It flew up, sparkling and soaked.

Nooooooooo! It was a second. It was only a second in the water. The top was plugged by the earphones. Please, be alive, please be alive, please be alive.

I am drying it off gently, like a I have a newborn babe. I use an anti-bacterial wipe to gingerly swipe the wee away. I am about to give it mouth to mouth, but it works. It's breathing.

My joy is short-lived as I see the water stain under the screen....spreading.....
infecting, and drenching the delicate parts that make my iPhone a part of my hands.

It worked two more weeks, then died for good. My only option was to buy a new one. Warranty does not cover water damage.

When I took it into the Apple store, the man said there was still water inside it when he opened it up. Gee, I hope he washed his hands after, if not, maybe that's HIS ctrl+alt+del moment, yes?
**************************************
Thanks for hanging out at my place today, Angelia. Let's all show her some love at Living, Loving, Laughing. Don't forget to stop back in tomorrow for her fabulous guest post. I can't wait.

This post also participates in Friday Follow. I follow back.

BSOW: Do the T.W.I.S.T

It's Friday!!! Woot!!! Woot!! Woot!!! I get to pass out ICE CREAM!!!! I'm excited about this week's Best Scoop of the Week too. She's got a handle on this whole motherhood thing. She can diagnosis your shoulder pain. She's not afraid to walk in the TV Graveyard after dark. She's got tips for successful Facebooking. She's also got the dibs on the best lefty camera.

The Best Scoop of the Week honor goes to Dawn of The Way I See Things!!! Anyone who's blog makes them T.W.I.S.T. is cool by me.

The Way I See Things

****************************

"What one thing that has happened in your life has made the biggest impact on who you are today?"

Wow!  That is SOME question.  I've been giving it a lot thought since you first asked me and I'd have to say it was my relationship with my Aunt Nanci.  My Aunt (who was also my godmother) meant the world to me.  She was truly a 2nd mom and, as adults, we were also great friends.    Without going into too much detail, let's just say that I had an extremely adversarial relationship with both of my parents.  I didn't get the sense that they got much pleasure in having kids (there wasn't a ton of "fun" in my house).  I grew up in a home where fighting was the norm, fun foods (like pop tarts and fruit loops) were NEVER found, and family members seldom enjoyed each other's company.   Luckily for me, my parents "shipped me off" to Syracuse, NY during the summers to spend time with my Aunt and cousins.  My Aunt Nanci was the complete opposite of my parents.  (We often wondered how she and my Dad were related!)   She was silly and funny and laid back.  She embraced the thrill of slime as much as we did.  She danced in her car.  She picked berries.   She loved being a MOM and her kids absolutely adored her.  So did I.

I spent most of my teen years fighting with my parents and spending as much free time as I could with my closest friends.  Through the tough years, I knew my Aunt always had my back.  As I grew into a young woman she became a true friend to me.  We so enjoyed each other's company and got together socially as often as we could.  We agreed that we would've still been friends had we not been related!  When I became a parent I knew that my AUNT would be my role model (DEFINITELY NOT MY MOM OR DAD!)  It came as no surprise that my Aunt would play a major role in the lives of my boys -- she spoiled them with her love and whimsical spirit and became their "Fairy Godmother" (which they called her always!)  Some of my happiest childhood memories are moments I spent with her and all I've ever wanted is to be like her!

While my Aunt Nanci is no longer here (she passed away a few years ago from cancer), I know she is with me always.  She showed me how parenting isn't a chore but something to cherish; that parents and children don't always have to fight; that it's okay to be young at heart and show it to the world.  I can't imagine what kind of woman I'd be today without having the love and support of my Aunt.

BSOW: Its a Feel Good Kinda Day

It's Friday!! Woot Woot Woot!!! We survived the week!! Here's a quick recap in case you missed it:

M-I revealed which of the 7 stories was the lie (from my blog party).
T-Scooby had an OH No He Didn't moment.
W-The gorgeous summer sky after a flash storm for a Wordless Wednesday.
Th-The launch of my brand new meme, 2 Truths and a Lie, co-hosted with CA Girl. It was a successful debut thanks to my lovely readers!! YAY!!! Come back next Thursday to play, and see which one was the lie!!!

Woot! Woot!! Woot!!

And you know what? I've had a pretty good month. I think today I will participate in The Girl Next Door Grows Up's Feel Good Friday meme, especially considering she is my special guest this week. Woot Woot!! Girl crush live on!!!

Here are 5 things that make me Feel Good this week (and every week really):

1. I have the best followers in the blogosphere. I really do. Y'all come to my blog, read my poop, let a little splatter on your walls. You leave me a little love. You keep me going.

2. I have a wonderful friend. She's never met me IRL, but she keeps me going when the going is rough. She pats me on the back or brings me back down to earth when I get overwhelmed. She lets me bounce off my creative ideas off of her and she is honest with me about what works and what doesn't. She fully supports everything I do, even if she doesn't think I should do it. It's been a long time since I had a friend like that. I'm so glad you are mine. I can't wait to meet you this summer.

3. My hubs is wonderful to me. He gets up every morning at 4 am, drives 1.5 hours to punch in and works til 5:30 pm, sometimes later. During the day, he sends little text messages like "I'm so in love with you, you can't even begin to understand" or "I miss you". It makes my heart melt. Six years of togetherness and we still feel like we are in love. This is definitely a feel good thing.

4. Jellybean makes me feel good. She is home for the summer (1/2 day at softball camp this week) and despite her problems and our butting heads, she is being as helpful as she can. This makes me feel really good considering it used to be like trying to take a steak from a hungry lion to get her to do anything. There's still resistance, but the willingness is there. She is growing up and I love the little woman she is becoming.

5. My designing is becoming very relaxing. New ideas are flowing, my mind is opening, and this makes me feel good. It gives me purpose, usefulness, and lets me remember the imaginative person I used to be.

Are y'all ready to meet this week's Best Scoop of the Week?

I must tell you that after only reading one very short post of hers, I was hooked. The more I read, the more I fell.

I laugh. I cry. I laugh some more.

My tailbone is really getting sore. I'm going to have to start up a new chair drive so I can have arms on my chair to keep my fat butt in it when reading her posts.

She is seriously funny.

Don't take my word for it though. Just read here, here, here, and here.

She is the genius behind the popular Feel Good Friday meme. Please give a warm welcome to Laura from The Girl Next Door Grows Up.

**************************
I was so honored when The Drama Mama asked me to be her Scoop of the Week!  Then I got my question:

“If I were a car, what make and model would I be and why?”

That is kind of a head scratcher, if you ask me.

But then it all became clear…

I would be a ‘57 Chevy.

A Classic.  Good lines. Timeless.

Yet, I was still bothered because it is difficult to define myself by one thing.

I could be a minivan…comfy and practical.

Or a Lexus….filled with luxury.

How about a sports car… always going fast and zooming around?

A VW Beetle?  Quirky and small.

Although, after the week that I have had, I think I could be a Toyota… and I need to be recalled.

In the end, I know what I would be:

I am an Auto Show, filled with all sorts of makes and models.

Plus, Auto Shows always have ice cream.

Yum.
*********************

Make sure to stop back in tomorrow when she guest posts for me.

Bring some balloons and cupcakes too (because it's her birthday, but shhhh!!)

And no jumping out from behind the sofa yelling "surprise" either. She's got a birthday curse upon her, and we want her whole and in one piece....

Go read her Feel Good Friday post today and leave her some love.

Stop back by and join in the Friday Follow bloghop and make a bunch of new friends.

It's easy.

It's Old School DysFUNctional Friday Won't You Follow Me Day

It's Friday. This means that as of 1 pm Eastern Standard Time, I will have a 5th grader. What? Wait. I have to read that again...a 5th grader.

Moi? No really.

Oh that's scary. She's one year shy of middle school and while she thinks she may be ready, I am FAR from ready. Yes, yes, I know. I have a WHOLE summer and school year plus another WHOLE summer before she starts middle school, but that's really not very far away at all.

I mean not like it was way back when she was 3 and just started preschool. Middle school seemed centuries away when she was 3.

*sigh*
If only they stayed little.

A portion of this post is linked up with parenting By dummies Old School Photo Friday. Visit Dumb Mom for more Old School posts and link up your own!

Are you wondering who gets the bowl full of ice cream this week?

Today's BSOW is....

(drumroll please)

She's knows exactly how to end her day. She's not ashamed to admit her age. She even enjoys a baby for dinner once in awhile. She's got 3 books waiting to be published. And she is a single mom. Can we say superwoman here?

I asked Buffi if she died and was reincarnated as an animal, which animal would she like to be and why...

Buffi says:
My "A" (real) answer:  I'd come back as a mosquito.  I'd only live one day, then return as a human again.
My "B" (backup) answer:  I'd come back as an elephant.  I'd keep a mate for life and never worry about getting too fat.

Run, go check out Buffi's blog and leave her some love. Tell her what animal you'd want to come back to life as, then come back here and link up for Friday Follow Me., We can hold hands and bloghop together.

My Name is Silvertongue

Today. Today. TODAY!! Woot!! It's Friday. You know what else it is? Today is a very, very special day. I mean besides having my #1 favorite blogger visiting me today, special.

:drumroll: This is my 100th post!!!!! :fanfare: Wheeeeeeee!! Wow!! I did it!! And you know, I couldn't have done it without you, my followers, my readers, my friends. So, today, as a special treat, I'm giving you guys a treat.

Raise your hand if you are a Friends fanatic. Wow. I thought so. And of course you remember the episode where Phoebe meets her half brother for the second time, and Ross makes his list of Top 5 celebrity Freebies and laminates it, leaving off Isabella Rossellini, who just happens to stop in and disses him. Best episode ever. I would add a video clip here, but I can't, so you'll just have to remember it on your own.

What does that have to do with this post? Welllll.....today's Best Scoop of the Week is none other than Dumb Mom from parenting By dummies. I will highlight on all her fabulousness here in a moment, but I asked her what book would she like to be read into and why, ala Inkheart style. She has a great answer, which I will get to in a few minutes, but, to go along with that, I decided to treat you to some eye candy of my Top 5 Movie Characters (or is it the actor portraying the character?!?) that I would runaway with for several hours of ALONE time. You with me? You got your fans ready, a tall glass of ice cold water next to your computer, ready to quell the heat that will be rising from your monitor? Yes? Good, because here we go....

1. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) Seriously, who wouldn't want to be romanced by a man willing to go to farthest reaches of the sea to save his one and only true love?
2. Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), a hot rebel who can dance, with a sensitive side....
3. Bram Stoker's Dracula (Gary Oldman) You can't beat a love that carries over centuries.

4. Aragorn (Viggo Mortenson) He is strong, yet he is lost, and you can't help but love him in spite of himself.

5. And lastly, who could forget how Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) stole our hearts along with Rose's with his free spirited and whole hearted pure love?

Are you ready to come back down to earth yet? I've still got to tell you about the Best Scoop of the Week.
Are you ready for some laughter? I hope you haven't eaten any time recently, since today's Featured Blogger will have you busting buttons from your pants laughing so hard. I can hardly do the justice that this lady deserves, but I can tell you that she was one of my very first discoveries here in blogland. From the moment I read her first sentence I was hooked. I know that no matter how tough my day is, I can visit her blog and leave it feeling so much better. She is awesome. Her kids are awesome. Even Dumb Dad is awesome (but we can't tell him that, okay?) I am very honored to introduce you to Dumb Mom from parenting By dummies.

She's got some great advice for new moms, some tips on handling life's toughest questions, and she is not afraid to show you the old school way. You should really check out her tips for hauling 3 boys to the movies and survive. In her endeavors to be a better parent, she has established some rules to make life easier (hers!! not theirs!! Haha) Are you hooked yet? No? Well, then maybe her response to my question will reel you in:

"If you were read into a book, which book and why?"
***************

If I could live in a book I'd want it to be a compilation.  Like short story exceprts from some of my faves all shoved into one book together so when living with Edward and the Cullens gets boring (seriously, as if), I could just run down to Hogwarts for a bit and do the whole magical adventure thing.  But then, when I'm sick of living as a sexually frustrated teen I could roll over to Bon Temps and hang with Sookie.  No scratch that.  I could BE Sookie and hook up with Eric Northman, vampire sex god, for a bit.  And, when I get sick of dealing with the supes of the world and having my life threatened by believed-to-be mythical creatures, I could trot on over to some romantic-comedy-Bridget-
Jonesish type thing, Like Confessions of a Shopaholic (believe me, the books were WAY better than the movie).  I LOVED that series.  Obviously I'm as indecisive as I am dumb.

***************

A compilation of books sounds really good to me, Dumb Mom, especially if they combined all those characters from above. I would be awesome competition for Elizabeth or Rose, or even Baby with her overprotective parents and all, for that matter. If Silvertongue read you into a story, where would you go and who would you be?

Dumb Mom will be back on Monday to help me start off my Blog Party. Are you ready?!?

I participate in Friday-Follow Me. Want to make some new friends, gain a bigger following? Then Friday- Follow me is the place for you. If you like what you see and become a follower, leave me a comment so I can follow you back. It's that easy. Just click on the button and it will take you there.

Best Scoop of the Week- A Little Ellen Never Hurt Anyone

It's Friday and you know what that means over here on The Scoop on Poop! Yes, thats right. It's Feature Friday and this week's Featured Blog is The Practical Mom Guide. There are so many reasons why I love this blog. She's witty, she gives good practical advice, and has some really great giveaways too. Need more proof?  Just go here, here and here. I guarantee you won't regret it. This is one awesome lady. I'll even give you a little teaser. I asked her:

"If you could be anyone for one day, who would you be and why?"
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Normally I would say I wouldn't want to be any one other than myself but for one day I would live it up as Ellen DeGeneres.  I love her charisma.  In my life, I am pretty laid back and I think I have a tendency to "support" (I hate the term follow) rather than lead.  She is outrageous, hilarious, and she can dance!  She is confident and sure in who she is.  Not to mention she gets to interview some pretty amazing people.

Okay, lets face it, it would also be nice to be adored by millions.  It would also be nice to have a team around me doing everything for me.  Maybe then I would be able to have my hair and makeup done (at the same time), clean clothes (with a toddler and an infant I would have to do about 5 wardrobe changes to make it to the end of the day in clean clothes), hot food (most days I would settle for warm), and a driver since I doubt Ellen has to drive herself anywhere (well maybe she does choose to since she does seem pretty down-to-earth).

If I had to choose a runner-up in case the wishes fairies couldn't make me Ellen for the day since I am sure there would be a pretty long time of other wannabes vying to be her for the day, I would choose Sarah Jessica Parker.  I just want to step into her closet and wear her clothes, especially her manolo blahniks!  A girl can dream. The ultimate dream of a girl who still loves to play dress-up.

Of course, I would only want to live it up for one day and not a second more because I would miss my babies and the love of my life too much for words.  But sometimes it is nice to get away, just for a day!

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Need more? I know you do. You'll have to come back on Monday when she guest posts for me. We are going to find out what her take on Life and Motherhood is, as a special post for Mother's Day. I can't wait, can you?

Make sure you stop by The Practical Mom Guide and show her some love today.

I participate in Friday Follow, hosted by One2Try, Midday Escapades, and Hearts Make Families. It's a blog hop full of fun and discoveries. Come play along with me!

Best Scoop of the Week-To Dine or Not to Dine

It's Friday, and you know what that means!! Yep, it's when I feature a special blog.  This week's Best SCOOP of the Week calls her blog The Miller Mix. I have been a fan of her blog since I discovered her just a short time ago when I began blogging. This lady is extra special. She adopted her son, who also has ADHD. She tells a good story, and sometimes even manages to make me think (me? think? Even GC thinks that's an amazing feat!) She never fails to make me laugh, and I must admit her kids are pretty dang cute, too. Here are a couple of reasons why I LOVE her blog....
But what really grabbed my attention was this post...A reminder. This is one strong, courageous woman here. And just to prove it, here's a little taste of Kelly...

I asked her.....
"Which famous/infamous person(s) would you invite to dinner and why?

I’m a girl who’s played it way too safe in life (not counting that six-year span in college and grad school when I went slightly off the rails), so I wouldn’t be able to pass up the opportunity to sit down with someone infamous whose devil-may-care behavior might rub off on me.

So of course I’d have to sit down to dinner with Lady Gaga, right? How could I not? I’d show up in my mom-of-two capris with my four-years-out-of-style flip flops and a bedazzled Lane Bryant tank top. She’d show up in a tight gold knit jumpsuit that covered her entire face and head. I’d order a grilled chicken salad with no onions and light dressing on the side. She’d order nothing but seltzer water with lots of lemon. I’d drip dressing down my shirt. She’d raise her eyebrows while slowly squeezing more lemon into her glass.
But we’d talk. About gender and race and class. About being an overt sexual non-conformist who gets a thrill out of turning the tables on the expectations for a pop star. About being a girl and a woman in this world. About raising girls to be strong women — as I am trying to do with my daughter and she is doing indirectly with the millions of young girls across the planet who idolize her.

I’d tell her there are things she can do better. Like eat actual meals and create art for the sole purpose of making her soul sing rather than because it makes money. Mentor young boys and girls to be exactly who they are without shame or guilt. Expose straight-laced middle-aged folks like me to the real, thriving subcultures of our country without exploiting anyone.

And she’d give me a pep talk of my own. She tell me to keep taking better care of myself and that getting off the couch more is definitely a great idea. To take more risks — jump when my mind wants me to curl up, reach when my mind urges me to hold back, and laugh when my mind screams at me to cry. She’d encourage me to write what makes my soul sing and to not care whether anyone ever wanted to read those words.

We’d talk and we’d laugh. And maybe by the end of it we’d dance. I’d pull my grungy wallet out of my 31 bag that I bought specifically to match my frumpy mom outfit, but Gaga would laugh at me and say it’s already taken care of. She’d put her arm around me as we walked out to our cars to go on about our separate lives.

Our disparate lives. Her and me. Learning to take risks for the right reasons and to shine in any light. Our souls singing. Separate, but so much the same. "

I participate in Friday Follow. You should too.

And the Best Scoop of the Week is....

Friday is finally here. I am SO excited. Let me tell you why. Today is the first day I feature another blog. And I'm so super excited about this blog.

Three Pugs & a Baby

Jenn will make you laugh til your sides hurt. She will make you drool with her delectable temptations. She's like the sunshine that bursts through the clouds after a downpour of rain. She's a mom, a wife, a writer. She is a Dolphins fan married to a die-hard Jets fan. She is 100% Drama Mama approved. Scoop seal of satisfaction and all. Lastly, she is a superwoman. I'll let her tell you more about her superpower...

"It's kind of funny that The Drama Mama asked me to share my thoughts on the superpower I would want and what I would do with it.

Just the other night, MacGyver and I were watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and I made the comment that if I was Wolverine's love interest (I never did catch her name), I would be pretty darn pissed. After all, everyone else had super cool power - like wolverine talons sprouting from knuckles, or the ability to keep a lightbulb powered without electricity.

And all she had was, essentially, the power of persuasion.

It falls a little flat, in comparison.

But then, as I pondered The Drama Mama's challenge, I changed my mind. I mean, it would be super cool to fly or shoot fire from my eyes, but that could get old really fast. And can you imagine all the "friends" who would come crawling out of the Facebook woodwork?

"Hey, my boss pissed me off. Can you shoot fire from your eyes at him?"

"Listen, my husband is really annoying me. I bet if you shot fire from your eyes, he would step up."

"I know we didn't really get along in high school, but I heard you can shoot fire from your eyes. Can you show me?"

And that would just be all kind of awkward.

But the power of persuasion... The ability to convince someone to do something with just a touch of your hand or a long glance.

Can you imagine?

So that's what I would want. If for no other reason than to be able to put my hand on MacGyver's shoulder and say "Greg Camarillo is your bromance. Rex Ryan makes you physically ill. The color gan-green makes you nauseous. And you love singing the Miami Dolphins #1 song at every given opportunity." And have him believe me.

Also, it would be really handy for tantrums and political debates.

And now you know.

The Drama Mama also asked me to direct you all to a few of my favorite posts from three pugs & a baby.

Here they are, in no particular order:

how i finally justified a pair of christian louboutins

the 30 day shred: day 1

the amazing appliance fairies

So there you have it!

Happy Friday!"

I really enjoy Fridays. Besides the obvious that the weekend is here, I really enjoy Friday because: Friday Follow and Feel Good Fridays. As for Feel Good Friday (sponsored by The Girl Next Door Grows Up), reading how others are feeling good today, makes you feel EXTRA good. Yep. That's right. So, come play along.
