Yowza. There's just something about Spring that inspires me to let my freak flag fly. It might have something to do with being able to wear my granny floral shoes without having to worry about trudging through ankle deep snow! Even though I'm just bumming around writing take-home exams today, I felt the unexplainable urge to wear flounces and florals, so I pulled out my Rodarte for Target cardigan and paired it with my Comme des Garcons shirt to successfully transform from my pyjama-clad self to my fabulous self! The skirt and tights are American Apparel and the granny tapestry shoes are awesome. I mean, thrifted.
Life is good, yeah.

Oh Katrina!
Working on my casual goth jams look today, with my Comme Des Garçons top, American Apparel riding pants and plaid flannel. The asymmetry of the shirt makes this look still kind of romantic, but the plaid flannel makes it much less dramatic than the long skirt-wearing, poetry-reading gothic look that I'm usually trying to channel. It's kind of sad, but I don't think any picture will ever do justice to the true beauty of this top.

Odessa
I tried taking a decent outfit photo this morning but ended up just looking like a bottom-heavy Triceratops, which is NOT the way I would like strangers on the internet to view me as (though if anyone wants to try out a clever photoshop I wouldn't mind). The only clear solution is Mac Photobooth, where I always end up liking how grainy the photos look.
Been wearing my hair in a loose french braid these days. It gives me an ironic rat-tail.
Velvet Comme des Garcons top worn with awful cutoff jean shorts that I've had since I was 14. Love that high-low juxtaposition.
Not to forget my evil pointy witch boots! These ain't Glinda's boots, and the next you see me wearing them I'll have my face painted green, cackling jibberish about your dog.

Can You Feel It?
So I managed to get up to a little bit of 'shopping' whilst I was away on my trip to NYC. The only place I actually bought anything of note was BEACON'S CLOSET. Y'heard of it? You have to go. I went to the one in Park Slope which is apparently way smaller than the Williamsburg location, but I was still blown away by the quality and selection of everything. I found this ultimate Wednesday Addams dress, which is perfect for sulking while listening to the Smiths. During the long, cold wintertime I will wear it with weirdo leggings and Doc Martens every day.
The other EPIC FIND OF A LIFETIME was a Comme Des Garçons crushed velvet top. I was shocked to find a high quality, serious designer item that I actually liked just hanging out in the racks like that. The ruffled asymmetrical hem is so good I can't even describe it properly, and the price tag? Even better.
Let's get a close up shot of that. Awww yeah.
So I know that outfit was kind of weird, but the top is definitely more of a winter piece in my eyes, and I plan on pairing it with black skinny pants and my Prada boots.
