Pixar has announced it's first female director Brenda Chapman. She will be directing the movie
Brave, due in June 2012. Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, and Julie Walters are all expected to provide voices for the film. The story follows Merida, a Scottish princess with a love of archery. The film is set in Edinburgh, Scotland. When I went to the Edinburgh Film Festival to see
Toy Story 3, the animators spoke about the film.
Chapman was the first American woman to direct an animated film. The film was
The Prince of Egypt (1998).
She's also been a writer for major Disney films such as
Beauty and the Beast (1991) and the
Lion King (1994).
