*Special Announcement*
The first ever Tyler Kahl Fan Participation - CSN Stores $ 35 Giveaway contest ended on the 13th. I am late announcing because I was buried under a deluge of responses and sadly, no one elected to take the fast-pass (I hope you were sitting down for that one). I settled on contestant Eric who has actually been an active participant on the blog. I'm still sorting out whether or not he is doing it for the prizes or because he cares. And I, not unlike the frumpy girl at the freshman dance, am not in a position to waste time with discernment. So congratulations Eric, thanks for playing and check back real soon for another contest. Also, thank you to Cameron from CSN Stores for choosing my blog to graciously host his promotion. And finally, thank you to the contest losers. Because like some old, crusty football coach in a fedora and an overcoat once said, "winning isn't everything, but the will to win is everything." I reiterate, of course.
On with the weekly roundup:
2.13 pic of the week (version me)
because I know a girl who cries when she practices violin
2.13 pic of the week (version not me)
because:
Bo knows this,
And Bo knows that,
But Bo don't know jack,
'Cause Bo can't rap
February 15th was Conor Oberst's birthday and he's my hero.
February 16th was my Father's birthday and he's also my hero. Except more so.
Mandatory Reading (s):
1. My favorite Bill Simmons Column of the year (even though he hates me and my pink shirt).
It's a two parter so dig in:

2. Two for two. My two favorite Esquire writers: Tom Chiarella & Chris Jones both carved exquisite pieces of art out of words and sentences and punctuation.
From Tom - he knows everything and he drops it like the Rock drops peoples' elbows:
How to Nail Valentine's Day
From Chris -rating who I like more between he and Tom is like trying to decide between Pujols and Hanley in a fantasy draft:
Rage Against the Machine
Blog of the week, from the aforementioned Chris Jones. Some words you read, some you feel. These you feel:

Twitter feed of the week, Ronnie Facio (of Petros and Money acclaim) I don't think he tweets much but he has the best taste in music of anyone I know:

I watched these two movies:
Defined an era for me. One I read about.
Defined an era for me. One that swirled around me as I grew up.
Videos of the week:
3-way-tie
And remember, tell all the truth, but tell it slant.
Thanks guys, have a safe trip home.
