When Bullying Strikes Close to Home

What would you do? What if there was only one school in your county for your children to go to? What if the children who jumped your child were allowed to continue their education, consequence free, at the school?

What would you do? How would you feel?

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine the pain your heart would feel when you see your child's beautiful face destroyed at the hands of other children. Feel that pain reach every corner of your heart as you watch him lay in that hospital bed, wanting so badly to make his pain go away, yet helpless to do anything for him. Feel your heart burst in a thousand tiny shards as you find out your son is suspended for 10 days, just like those who beat him. Swallow the anger that arises as you gather all your facts.

What would you do if this were your child?

I can't even begin to imagine the pain my very good friend has been going through these past two weeks. She is doing what she knows how to do, and standing up and fighting. She's fighting for her son. She's fighting for both of her children's rights to get an education in a safe environment. An environment that is now compromised because of a school's inaction in keeping her son safe when they had ample opportunity to protect him. The one and only public school her children can attend.

The one and only school where their education is now at risk because the school refuses to do anything.

Read Sparrow's story hereRead the local news article here. Help us raise up the cry to protect her son and all the other children on his side. Help us by raising your voice against the injustices being served on this family. After you read her story, I promise you will want to.

Grab your tissues, hug your children tight this evening, my friends. Let us show this heartbroken mother the support she so justly deserves.
