Empire Online has confirmed that Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov have named newcomer Benjamin Walker as their
Abraham Lincoln. Walker was most recently in the off-Broadway production of
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson so he's no newcomer to playing vicious presidents. I'm just surprised that Johnny Depp wasn't even in the list of potential candidates for a Burton film. Others who were considered include Josh Lucas (who will be in the new
J Edgar film), Adrien Brody (who is too attractive to play Abraham Lincoln), Timothy Olyphant and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. Walker has had on-screen roles in
Flags of Our Fathers and
Kinsey. The movie is set to come out June 22, 2012.
