Sunday's outfit: super duper grandpa pants, hand-knit sweater and brown oxford brogues. Come to think of it, it's almost identical to this outfit I wore way back in November 2009 except with less awkward hair and classier shoes. It seems there is something about this sweater that really makes me want to break out the weird jewelery combinations. These necklaces are like Carrie Bradshaw if she were a superstitious grunge fan?
Also, I've been wearing the same outfit for two days now but the ruffled peter pan collar is definitely worth a mention. My style direction for Spring is moving from "Goth Jams" to "Lolita goes to Church."

I am on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen.
Golly gee, I've been heavy into the long plaid skirts lately! This one is new from American Apparel and I figured I would continue in the cozy cold-weather grunge vein that I've been drawing from lately. The Michigan sweater is a souvenir from a super weird school field trip we went on to Ohio and Michigan a couple years ago, when the sight of people smoking in restaurants and pancakes the size of a man's face induced a reaction of severe culture shock.
Also, just managed to catch up on this Charlie Sheen celebrity-gate malarky. What do you guys think? I love his nonchalant take on social crack use, it is hysterical. Today I am burning Dragon's Blood incense in homage to the Tiger Blood that sustains his meta-human superiority.

She's Ovulating!!
Roommate: "I feel like its Halloween today."
Yes. Last night in a half-ass attempt to study for my Women's Studies midterm, I watched the movie Ginger Snaps and accidentally stumbled upon the greatest angsty goth girl outfit inspiration of all time. It's a lycanthropy-themed campy Canadian horror movie and the two main sisters Brigitte and Ginger are the ultimate creepy yet awesome examples of teenage ennui. Ginger's style was a little "high school Wiccan" for my tastes while she was busy transforming into a werewolf, but Brigitte's awkward style and twitchy mannerisms were the ultimate inspiration behind this outfit. The plaid skirt is vintage, worn with an American Apparel turtleneck and Blundstone boots.
Why not add a cape for good measure?

Halloweek
Here's hoping you all had a radical Halloween weekend, full of candy puke and silly costumes. For some reason, these heinous Levis thrifted mom jeans are really appealing to my sensibilities. I wear them with everything, going for the super grunge look with my new Graham + Spencer knit sweater. It looks like the sweater I knit, except no effort was put into it. Worn with thrifted granny shoes and an American Apparel twist scarf on my head.
It should come as no surprise that for Halloween I dressed up as the heroic movie character Terry, from Fubar (and Fubar II)!! I found everything in my closet, drew on fake sideburns and acted obnoxiously dumb all night. IT was the first time I have actually dared venture out of the house in sweatpants. All in the name of Halloween!

Heart
This is unquestionably my favourite outfit I have worn in sooo long! The pleated skirt was bought on one of my very first thrifting excursions, most likely even before the advent of this blog (so many moons ago). I bought it because it reminded me of rich old ladies who wear pearls and go for afternoon tea, but never wore it because of the awkward length. It sat in my sewing pile, waiting to be hemmed into a miniskirt and I am so happy that I never got around to chopping it, because now this awkward length is the best thing ever!
Worn with a heinous men's XL DIY crop top and high heel Doc Martens.

California Dreamin'
Ugh, for some reason whenever the weather turns cold I lack the simple ability to get out of bed - much less put together a decent outfit! I always end up reaching for this huge circular pullover because its so cozy on the inside and I can snuggle up inside it because I'm pretty much wearing a blanket. Tried to make up for it by wearing my classy high-heeled Doc Marten's to school for the first time.
At least it's Hallowe'en season, so I can find cheap, stupid and amazing gloves at the dollar store!!
Oh yeah, and I almost forgot about this whole wearing purple business in solidarity with LGBT rights. Represent tolerance... And Black Flag!

Derailed
This leopard print shirt is probably big enough to fit three of me inside - imagine the trouble the last time i wore it, tucked into pants! Today I'm letting it all hang loose, with a little help from my friend the waist belt. Confession: I was going to wear this outfit with my croc Docs so I could be super down with the animal kingdom, but for the first time in my life I thought Doc Martens looked weird with the outfit. I think I need to go to boot rehab.

Hard Faced
In keeping with my super grunge agenda, I wore the dark lipstick again! I think I'm starting to "grow up" because I feel more like wearing longer, voluminous skirts instead of plaid shirts, jeans and huge boots anymore.
Also, has everyone grabbed their copy of this week's New Yorker? A certain lil fashion blogger that has captured the hearts of many has her own much-deserved profile in it! Team Tavi! The article failed to shed any new light on virtually anything involving fashion blogging, but I wanted a copy regardless.

Shoot! Shoot!
Wow, one minute I have no idea what to do with myself and the next minute I'm budgeting sleep trying to fit everything in. Out of the numerous activities keeping my on my toes for the next few months is blogging for the LG Fashion page! You can check out my first post here, but I'm not going to write 'spoiler posts' and put them on this blog because that's lame. Original content on Hipster Musings will always be my #1 priority (well, after doing readings and writing papers for insane professors).
Partly, I have no idea what to blog about because there is so much to blog about!
1. NEW HIGH-HEELED DOC MARTENS! These hurt. A lot. But I will break them in if it kills me and or leaves me with two bleeding stumps for feet.
2. NEW DARK LIPSTICK! My lipstick motto is usually "red or dead", but I'm trying to branch out.
Will expand on these obviously super-important life concepts in posts to come.
