Though I was hesitant about MTV's Harry Potter World Cup (since Harry Potter barely won any awards at their movie awards this year), it turned out to be a pretty accurate tournament. Now we're down to the final round. The contestants left standing are Ron Weasley and Severus Snape. Two very worthy opponents. At first I was convinced that MTV viewers would find some way to make Cedric Diggory win due to Robert Pattinson's role in Twilight, but it seems that there is still some credibility left in the world as he lost to Hagrid in the third round.
In my opinion Dobby was Snape's biggest challenge to overcome in the tournament, and I'm honestly surprised he was victorious. I mean, Dobby should have had the sympathy vote...being dead and all...though Snape will be soon....SPOILER!!!!
Ron didn't have too many road blocks. His most challenging opposition was probably Hagrid. Harry lost to Snape in the fourth round and Hermione lost to Snape in the semifinals. So will any one of the three best friends be able to defeat the Half-Blood Prince? (SPOILER AGAIN)
My favorite character, Bellatrix Lestrange, lost to Draco Malfoy in the third round. Though it is completely ridiculous, it makes perfect sense considering the only award Harry Potter won at the MTV Movie Awards was Best Villain for Draco Malfoy. Of course, this category was the only nomination that didn't make sense. Draco is not really a villain. He's afraid of everything and a wuss. Bellatrix is a boss. And don't you forget it. Luckily Draco lost to Sirius Black in the fourth round and then Sirius lost to Ron in the semifinals.
The winner will be announced around 4:30 p.m. at the New York premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. What are your predictions?
