I watched this movie:

To call it the Australian version of the Godfather is to call Ricky Ponting the Australian version of LeBron James...which, now that I think about it, is totally apt.

....just not exactly complimentary.

Jacki Weaver, however precipitous a drop from Vito Corleone, was quite magnificent. And recognized for it by the Academy.

...which leads me to this:

quite easily the most memorable thing about this year's Oscars (from Dad):
"Oscar's best picture in legos"

not that he had a lot of competition from this guy:

it's easy to forget how great he is in the right situation?
(thanks to Alan Sepinwall for the reminder)

Natalie Portman deserved an Oscar, but not for Black Swan. Maybe for the Professional....maybeeeeee for Beautiful Girls...but most of all for this:

I thought it should have gone to Michelle Williams but what do I know? I'm unemployable.

And finally,
the video (s) of the week (tie)
because cute animals melt even the most frigid of hearts like an ice cube dropped into a bowl of pea soup

from Mom:

from Girl:
Orangutan and the Hound

And remember, screaming is bad for the voice, but it's good for the heart.

Thanks guys, have a safe trip home.
