Footloose Remake — A Guaranteed Fail

What was originally supposed to star Chase Crawford or Zac Efron and be directed by the famous Kenny Ortega is now preparing to be the next Step Up 4 Million. The remake of Footloose that the world has not been waiting for will star Kenny Wormald. Don't know the name? Neither did I. But I sure was mistaken. Wormald has been in tons of classics like You Got Served, Clerks II and Center Stage: Turn It Up. And all hopes of this film being a hit just went out the door.

The only well-known actor in the cast is Dennis Quaid who will play the Rev. Shaw Moore or "the man" that Kevin Bacon stuck it to 27 years ago. Country singer Julianne Hough will play his daughter and Wormald's love interest. Her credits include a small role in last summer's Burlesque and a role as an extra at Hogwarts in the first Harry Potter. Boy, does this cast sound promising.
It really is a shame that Ortega and Efron dropped out, because I might have actually gone to see the movie if they were involved. For those of you who may still be interested, the film is set to release October 14, 2011.
