Wow. He's always been a little crazy, but this is extreme. Coming off of it's success on Broadway, the film adaptation of the musical Rock of Ages will star Cruise as Stacee Jaxx. According Empire Online, "In the Rock plot, Cruise’s character is the charismatic, self-obsessed musician who wins over snooty journalist Constance Sack (Malin Akerman) with his shirtless machismo."
Self-obsessed? Tom Cruise? Never! I guess his acting will just have to be super strong!
There are a ton of big names in this cast including: Paul Giamatti, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones (who won Best Actress at the Tony's last year for her role in A Little Night Music) and Alec Baldwin (the future mayor of NYC).
It's set to come out June 1, 2012.
Being a major fan of Broadway musicals, I'll admit that I haven't never had a desire to see this show. Will you go see the movie?
