Well, Twilight doesn't win everything. Penn Badgley recently announced that he will play the American singer and guitarist, Jeff Buckley, in a new movie. Badgley, who is best known for his role of Dan on the show Gossip Girl, beat out actor Robert Pattinson for the role. According to Marie Claire UK, Pattinson was "obsessed" with playing Buckley. 
Also up for the role was singer Jared Leto and actors Andrew Garfield and James Franco. In my opinion, Franco looks the most like Buckley, but producers for the film were looking for an actor who could also sing Buckley's songs. While Pattinson sings regularly and would have probably been great in the role, Badgley's voice is reportedly very similar to Buckley's. No word yet on how much of Buckley's life will be included in the film. Buckley drowned in 1997 after going on an evening swim in the Wolf River. His life ended at the age of 30 while in the prime of his musical career.
