In an interview at the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards, Mark Wahlberg confirmed that he will be starring in The Fighter 2.“We left out the Arturo Gatti fights for a reason," Wahlberg said. “Because that’s for Fighter 2. We’re not going to do Fighter 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, but we’re going to do 2. We’re going to do the Ward/Gatti trilogy.”
Micky Ward, who is the man that Wahlberg played in the first film, fought Arturo Gatti in three major fights. Though David O'Russell hasn't confirmed whether or not he intends to direct the film, he will be involved at some level of its production. And you can be sure that where Micky is so is his brother Dicky, who Christian Bale won the Academy Award for playing last year.
